Auto
Automobile accidents carry the potential for both criminal and civil liability. The state is likely to prosecute if someone is severely injured or killed or if one or both of the drivers was intoxicated at the time of the accident. In auto accident personal injury lawsuits, the court is limited to determining who was at fault and how much in damages must be paid to the victim. In auto accidents, as with all accident cases, both drivers may share some responsibility for the accident, or "fault", and a party's comparative fault can affect the amount they recover.
Bicycle
Bicycles are a cheap way to travel from place to place
and are excellent for recreation, but pose special problems
on the roads. Bicyclists are harder to see on the road
than other automobiles, and are more seriously injured
when they are hit by a car. Bicycle-automobile collisions
can also involve special safety rules applicable to
bicycle riders and the bicyclist's unique maintenance
and safety responsibilities.
Motorcycle
A motorcycle accident personal injury lawsuit is similar to an auto accident lawsuit, except that motorcycle accidents result in much more serious or even catastrophic injuries, and consequently involve much higher medical expenses. Studies have shown that motorcycles have the highest crash cost per person per mile. Motorcycle accidents often also involve unique issues of registration and insurance.
Pedestrian
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable targets for inattentive drivers. Pedestrians
often suffer serious injuries which require longer medical
treatment when hit by cars. Pedestrians are also vulnerable
to such hazards as poorly maintained sidewalks, falling
tree branches, and other similar situations caused by
someone else's negligence.
Big-rig
Trucking accidents account for a high percentage of fatal vehicle accidents. Proving liability in trucking accidents is more complex than in a car crash and typically requires experts to help reconstruct the accident scene and establish liability.
