As a lawyer, I often wear many hats. Litigator. Negotiator. Coach. Social worker. Confidant. Investigator. Researcher. Medical liaison as well as others.
Truth is, I love my job. And I love helping my clients, particularly when they are up against a wall and options seem limited.
Recently while I was on vacation in Hawaii with my family, a motorcyclist client of mine was struck by a car. Hospital x-rays indicated that unless he had surgery immediately, he would suffer permanent disability from the accident. What was worse, my client had no health insurance. So I knew I had to help my client find a medical team to perform the surgery and fast.
So instead of trekking the road to Hanna, I trekked through my list of medical contacts. I was able to quickly assemble a medical team to perform my client’s surgery on a lien including a board-certified surgeon, anesthesiologist, and a hospital which provided the operating facility. The surgery was performed soon after, and the client’s condition improved dramatically. Subsequently, I was able to obtain a substantial settlement for the client, which fully paid the medical team and provided my client with significant tax-free money for his pain and suffering.
I share this experience with you to illustrate the extent to which our office works with clients in desperate need of resources. |
